KATHMANDU, Feb 4: The CPN-UML has proposed party Chair KP Sharma Oli as its candidate for the post of prime minister.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s central office in Chyasal, UML Vice-Chair Ram Bahadur Thapa said the party has entered the election with the proposal of Oli as prime minister, citing the need to safeguard the country and re-establish patriotic and democratic forces.

Thapa said it was necessary to ensure the victory of forces committed to nation-building, adding that despite ongoing economic growth and work based on an integrated blueprint for prosperity, various forces had dominated the political landscape and led to the displacement of the previous government. He expressed confidence that voters would take this into account.
He also stressed the need for the Supreme Court to deliver a verdict at the earliest on the case related to the reinstatement of the House of Representatives.
