KATHMANDU, Jan 29: Police opened fire while attempting to arrest a gang involved in a series of robberies across the Kathmandu Valley, leaving one suspect injured in the process.
The incident took place in the Mulpani area late last night when a team from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, moved to apprehend the suspects. Police said the situation escalated after the group attempted to resist arrest, forcing officers to fire shots to bring the situation under control.

One member of the gang was injured by police gunfire and has been admitted to the Trauma Center for treatment.
According to SP Ramesh Thapa of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, police fired two rounds in self-defense after the suspects tried to attack security personnel during the operation. Two police officers were also injured in the incident.
Police said 10 individuals involved in robbery-related activities across the Valley have been arrested. The gang had been operating in areas including Gaushala, Swayambhu, Bouddha, and Bhaktapur.
The identities of the arrested suspects have not been disclosed as the investigation is ongoing, police said.
